I spent the weekend at Iowa School for Lay Ministry. We had some great conversations about Digital Ministry (social media and our web site). Those conversations plus someone questioning if a church website was even necessary led me to start this blog. I hope you enjoy it!
As Christians, I believe our main purpose is to carry out Jesus’ Great Commission from Matthew 28:19-20. “19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” So, we have made that the main goal of Trimblechurch.org. We want our website to lead people to know and love Jesus and know His love for all of us!
We are planning to change the home page so the critical information someone needs to know to attend our worship service is easy and quick to find. I was told in class that we will loose 80% of potential guests if our worship time isn’t out there BIG AND BOLD.
People spend an average of 4 seconds on a web page, so we need to use fewer words and more pictures. Another fact to back that up is people won’t read more than 100 words on your web page. Expect more pictures and videos and less words. And please share your pictures with us so we can get them on the website. You can email them to Phyllis at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
Please feel free to offer any constructive criticism so we can all work on our Great Commission. Remember, everything we do at Trimble is with Jesus Christ at the center to grow God’s kingdom.
